They alley is the only bar / restaunt of any substance at the north end of the the Beachfront. Up By the Corner of Balboa, 48th St, and the PCH, the alley is the perfect getaway from the standard barscene down by the Newport Pier. They have both indoor seating and an indoor bar area, as well as an outdoor patio- perfect for their Sat and Sun Brunch! During the week take advantage of the happy hour specials- if you are there late night, after their kitchen is closed? Hit the Jack in the Box on your walk/bike ride home.
